Gurmán awards 2023


GOURMÁN AWARD is an award for long-term and exceptional services to the development and representation of Slovak gastronomy and winemaking. It is awarded by the prestigious gastronomic guide “Gourmand in Slovakia” in cooperation with and based on nominations from expert evaluators of Gourmet, nominations from the Slovak Association of Chefs and Confectioners, the Association of Sommeliers of the Slovak Republic and the Association of Grape and Wine Producers in Slovakia.

How can a restaurant get to GOURMET?

Our expert evaluators make a number of unannounced anonymous visits throughout the year and evaluate all the restaurant’s criteria according to the evaluation sheet. He always recommends or does not recommend only with the result. Reviews must be at least 4 positive (recommended) and at least 2 of them from reviewers from a location other than the restaurant’s location. The selected restaurant is approached and its presentation will be prepared exclusively with its consent. If a restaurant that was in Gurmán last year does not have recommendations from evaluators this year, it will not be included in the new Gurmán. For better clarity, we have divided the restaurants into three categories: Premium restaurants, Hotel restaurants and Thematic restaurants. The division of restaurants into two quality levels will also be a novelty. Restaurants included in Gurmán that have passed the basic evaluation: recommended (min. number of points), and restaurants that have exceeded the point threshold of a higher standard. These will be designated as Gurmán Gold Restaurants and will be awarded 1-3 forks, depending on the number of points achieved. Awards and presentation of restaurant ratings always take place at the Gurmán Award gala dinner organized by Gurmán in Slovakia.

The chef is a co-owner of the restaurant or at least in the management of the restaurant. Restaurant open for at least three years. In the event that a renowned and respected chef opens a new restaurant or takes over another restaurant during the year, reviewers may also consider awarding forks earlier.

90 – 94 points

Great cuisine, a renowned chef presenting his own cuisine based on various combinations of flavors and using modern technological procedures. Excellent service complemented by a great wine list. The restaurant has been open for at least 2 years.

85 – 89 points

3 fork
Excellent cuisine, the chef works with seasonal products and has his own style of cooking. Good service and excellent wine list. Restaurant open for at least one year.


We evaluate restaurants for each section separately. Golden forks are designed by the expert inspectors of Gourmet based on their secret visits. Every foodie can rate by filling out the form on the website.
